If or when your SUNY Geneseo account is deleted, you will need to purchase Microsoft Office on your own.  If you choose to let your subscription expire, the Office software applications enter read-only mode, which means that you can view or print existing documents, but you can’t edit them or create new ones. To return to full Office functionality, you can purchase a new version of Office by visiting You could also use Office Online for free for basic editing.



Downloading and Installing Office 

  1. Go to:

  2. Click on Sign-in in the top right corner.

  3. Sign-in using your Geneseo email and password.
  4. Click Install Office 2016 on the top right side of the screen.
  5. Follow the instructions on screen to download MS Office 2016.
  6. Once downloaded and installed you will need to sign-in with your Geneseo email and password to activate MS Office, no product key required!


How to Use Office 365 Cloud

  1. Go to

  3. Down below, select Select the application you would like to use.
