Are you having difficulty signing into a service using your Geneseo account because you forgot your password? Follow the steps below

Before You Start

  1. You can reach the password reset webpage as shown in the images below or you can proceed to the next section and click on the link.
    1. On any Geneseo branded Single Sign-On (SSO) screen, click the link for Can't access your account? 
    2. If you have already entered in your Geneseo email address or if it was saved by the webpage, click on Forgot my password 


  1. Visit
  2. Enter your full Geneseo email (your email may be pre-filled if you clicked Forgot My Password on a Geneseo branded SSO screen) and complete the captcha challenge, then click Next.
  3. Choose one of the 4 options for verification step 1:
    1. Text my mobile phone: Microsoft will send you a verification verification code in a text message.
    2. Call my mobile phone: Microsoft will call you and tell you the verification code.
    3. Approve a notification on my authenticator app: A notification will appear in the app asking you to verify the sign in to the password reset service.
    4. Enter a code from my authenticator app: Enter the code shown under your Geneseo account in the authenticator app.
  4. Choose from the second list of options for verification step 2. The list will consist of options you didn't use in step 1 (if you chose to use the authenticator app in step 1, then you'll have to use text or call in step 2, and vice versa).
  5. Enter a new password and verify it.
  6. Your password is now reset.

Still Unable to Sign In to Your Account?

  • Call the CIT HelpDesk at (585) 245-5588 if you are still unable to sign into your account.


  • If you have not set up more than one registered password reset method for your account, you will be unable to complete the reset process. Contact the CIT HelpDesk at (585) 245-5588 for further assistance.

Notification Not Showing Up?

  • If you don't receive a notification immediately in your authenticator app, open the app, tap the three bars in the top left of the screen, and then tap Check for notifications on the menu that appears.
  • If you can't see the code in the authenticator app, tap the arrow next to your Geneseo account and tap Show code.
