This page provides information about the use of mobile devices at Geneseo and their applications.

Geneseo Mobile App

The Geneseo Mobile App provides access to resources including notifications, online directory, events, news, campus map, and more. It can also help you find other Geneseo apps.

Canvas Mobile App

The Canvas by Instructure app is the mobile version of Canvas that helps you stay current with your courses anywhere you go. Download the Canvas by Instructure app on Android and iOS devices.

RAVE Guardian Safety App

SUNY Geneseo has enhanced its current blue light system by launching Geneseo Guardian (powered by Rave Guardian), a free mobile app that turns your smartphone into a personal safety device. University Police encourages all students, faculty and staff to heighten their personal safety and the safety of their friends by downloading the free app.

By downloading the app on your mobile phone, you can also invite friends and family to join your network as your “Guardians.” You can then request one or more of your Guardians to virtually walk with you on or off campus. It’s like having an emergency blue light system and a trusted friend with you at all times.

Geneseo Mobile Website

Geneseo webpages are responsive. That is, they adjust according to the width of the screen they are being viewed on.

Geneseo Wireless Network

Connecting to the Geneseo wireless network saves on data usage and allows faster downloads. We recommend that you connect your device to our secure wireless network eduroam. Not only is this the most secure way to be online, it also saves your credentials so you don't have to log in every time you access your device.

Email Access

Most smart phones have a built in mail client that will work with Gmail.

Google Calendar Sync

Google Apps for Education is available to all Geneseo students, faculty, and staff. There are multiple ways to access your Google calendar from a mobile device. Google's preferred method is Google Sync (based on Microsoft Exchange technologies).

  1. Need some info on mobile wiki/Confluence, which does not appear to allow editing.
    1. I believe in order to edit wiki pages from mobile you have to request the desktop site. It then (mostly) works. I don't think I ever tried it on a phone but on my iPad I have done it and I know Nikolas Varrone has a lot of experience using his iPad and the wiki.

Is there a device you are having trouble using with the wiki?

    2. I have been able to edit the wiki on both my iPad and my iPhone via the "Desktop site" or with the iOS confluence app. I have found that the iOS confluence app for my phone is acceptable for basic work but isn't nearly as useful as the "Desktop site." Does that help, James McLean?

      1. I had trouble with "Desktop site," but eventually got it to work.  The iOS app seemed like it was only for admins, and did not enable me to even connect.  But the point of my comment was not specific to my goals.  I was suggesting that this wiki page could benefit from having information like this added.
