Purchasing a Laptop

Connecting a Computer to the Network
These steps are a must to keep your computer, as well as Geneseo resources, protected from Internet viruses, computer worms,and operating system vulnerabilities.
SUNY Geneseo offers wireless network access across campus for your computer and mobile devices. The SUNY Geneseo wireless network is based on IEEE 802.11 technology, also called "WiFi." This standard allows us to provide networking to computers over radio frequencies in the unlicensed 2.4 GHz and 5.2 GHz ranges.

All Geneseo students can download Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access) and other academic software for free.
Students have access to printing in every academic building, Milne Library, MacVittie College Union, and their residence hall.
myGeneseo is your campus connection to email, student balances, KnightWeb, campus news and events, and more.
Sign up for NY-ALERT via KnightWeb to receive Geneseo related emergency notifications through email, phone, and text messaging.
This online interactive learning center provides students with access to some course materials, communication tools and more.
Self Help guides are designed to assist users in getting started with CIT services and supported applications.
Student Access Computer Labs and Classrooms are provided principally for the use of current students and secondarily for faculty who are instructing students. All users of these facilities must adhere by the Acceptable Use Policy.

Google Apps for Education is available to all Geneseo students, faculty, and staff. Google Apps online services provide productivity and collaboration tools accessible from any Internet connection.
Geneseo Mobile App
The Geneseo Mobile app provides access to resources like class schedules, registration, billing, meal plan balances, notifications, online directory, events, news, campus map, and more. It can also help you find other apps recommended for Geneseo students. Search for “Geneseo Mobile” on the Google Play Store or Apple's app store and add it today.
Geneseo students, faculty and staff have FREE access to the entire lynda.com training library (over 7,500 courses, and more are added every week) through Geneseo's site license.
