CIT is planning to upgrade this wiki to Confluence 5 on Thursday, March 28th. The upgrade will occur during our maintenance hours of 6:00am-8:00am on that day and the wiki will be offline. There are 25 improvements in the newest version and we encourage you to read the release announcement and check out the full release notes. Some of the most noteable changes are highlighted below.

You will be able to experience all the new features first hand on our confluence site starting March 28th. Please contact the CIT HelpDesk at 585-245-5588 if you have any questions.

Visual refresh

The first thing you will notice is a visual refresh, modernizing the look and feel and making the content look even better on screen and mobile devices.

New global header

The Global header has been redesigned to make access to frequently accessed objects quicker and more visually appealing. Spaces & People are now always present on the header for quick access.

Streamlined creation of content

The Global create button in the header makes creation of content faster and easier. Confluence also has new templates for different kinds of content making it easier to select a great looking layout for your content. To ease quick creation they also suggest your most often used spaces for where to create your content.

Faster, richer, more reliable editor

Confluence has fixed over 100 editor issues making the editor in Confluence 5 the most reliable yet. They squeezed in 3 awesome improvements to enhance the editing experience for every user:

  1. Loads instantly: Confluence instantly loads the editor when you click Edit on any page. Forget about waiting for a full page refresh.
  2. Responsive design: As your browser window reduces in size, the editor buttons in the toolbar and footer will scale to provide maximum editing real-estate.
  3. Improved macros: YouTube previews in the Widget Connector, Nested Expand Macros, and Include Excerpt macros across different Spaces.
  • No labels
