Method of Assessment
In the assessment year for Social Science, instructors in all S/ general education courses will collect data in either the fall or the spring semester. Each instructor will evaluate a set of student responses to an exam question or essay assignment using the Social Science rubric. Instructors will forward their results to the Coordinator for this area, who will submit the aggregated data using the Social Science reporting form.
Instructors in this area may decide collectively to allow each individual instructor to derive results for different outcomes from different assignments. (For example, an essay for one outcome and two different exam questions for each of the other outcomes.)
To ensure inter-rater reliability, instructors will meet at least once to evaluate samples of student work using the rubric and discuss their results.
