Method of Assessment
Under the heading of "Information Management, Geneseo assesses only the first of the three SUNY learning outcomes listed above. Geneseo assesses the second and third SUNY outcomes under the heading of Basic Research. Thus, for 2009-2010 assessment results on these latter two outcomes, please see Basic Research Assessment Results 2009-2010.
To assess students' ability to perform the basic operations of personal computer use, Geneseo averages each student's score on the five Geneseo Learning Outcomes in Information Management listed above. In spring 2010, Milne Library administered a computer-skills test to 85 first-year students in Basic Communication (INTD 105).

Comments
We saw a decrease in the number of INTD 105 professors who brought their classes in for the end-semester assessment this year, despite the fact that it is a required element. The library will increase our outreach efforts to the INTD 105 faculty to encourage them to bring their classes in.
In addition, we may need to make some revisions to how this outcome is evaluated in the future, including evaluated how the Geneseo and SUNY learning outcomes interact, and how they are assessed and in which venue.
