2015 Motion 3. Updating the Office of Past Presiding Officer
Whereas the title of the office of Past Senate Chair was changed in 2007 to Immediate Past Presiding Officer, and
Whereas the office of Past Presiding Officer may be filled by a person other than the Presiding Officer from the previous year, and
Whereas procedures for filling a vacant position of Past Chair are described in Constitution Article V Section 7, be it
Resolved, that Article V Sections 5 and 7, Article VI Section 6, and Article VII Section 1 of the Faculty Constitution be amended as follows:
Constitution Article V: Officers
Section 1: The officers of the Faculty shall be the Presiding Officer of the Faculty, the Vice Chair, the Secretary, the Treasurer, the university Faculty Senator, and the Immediate Past Presiding Officer. The Presiding Officer of the Faculty shall serve as the Chair of the College Senate. The Vice Chair, Secretary and Treasurer shall also serve in these capacities for the College Senate.
Section 7: The Immediate Past Presiding Officer shall be the most recently elected Presiding Officer, excepting the current one. Any vacancy in the office shall be filled by appointment by the Presiding Officer with the consent of the Executive Committee.
Constitution Article VI: Duties of Officers
Section 6: Immediate Past Chair Presiding Officer. The Immediate Past Chair Presiding Officer shall serve as advisor to the Chair of Senate Presiding Officer. The Immediate Past Chair Presiding Officer shall serve a one-year term to end on May 31 of the year following the completion of her/his term as Chair. The Immediate Past Chair Presiding Officer serves as a member of the Strategic Planning Group. If there is no Immediate Past Chair, the Chair may appoint a member of Senate to serve in any capacity that would have been held by the Immediate Past Chair.

Section 1: The Chair, the Vice-Chair, the Secretary, the Treasurer, and the Immediate Past Chair.
